Meals Hill [SOLD]

Some of the most beautiful property overlooking the Port of Valdez and entrance to Prince William Sound.

The original design and survey started in 1981. In 1991, “The Hill” was thoroughly resurveyed and the road redesigned to meet City standards. A portion of the road was rough graded during blasting of rock on Tract V. In 1999, the lower portion of the roadway was dynamited for access.

2017 Chugach Fat Bike Competition

For the past several years The Port Valdez Company has sponsored the Chugach Fat Bike Competition on our most visible and featured property Meals Hill. The race is organized by local community activist group Levitation 49. The Chugach Fat Bike Bash in Valdez!

Featured Property - Meals HillThe Port Valdez Company was fortunate to be able to take advantage of a construction contract that our stockholder and former board member Bill Harris and company (the Harris Sand And Gravel Company) had engaged to develop the adjacent State Ferry Dock. While Mr. Harris was fulfilling his contract with the State of Alaska literally at the foot of our property overlooking Valdez Bay we were able to “rough in” 2.5 miles of road into the Meals Hills landscape so it could be seen and explored for future development opportunity. This gave easy access to some of the most beautiful property overlooking the Port of Valdez and entrance to Prince William Sound.

In 2006, Jack Roe, a land developer from Colorado entered into contract with the PVC to purchase 30 acres of Meals Hill. He spent three (3) years working on plans (Lighthouse Hill) for a hotel and several residential lots on the property but the current economic downturn has shelved the project at this time.

The Roe contract ended in June 2008.
